Coding will pull me out of the Ghetto
S

As a self-taught engineer, I've learned to solve real-world problems through hands-on experience. I don't just write code - I architect solutions that scale, secure APIs that protect data, and create interfaces that users love.

My approach is simple: understand the problem deeply, design the right solution, and build it with clean, maintainable code. Whether it's a RESTful API, a complex database schema, or a pixel-perfect frontend, I ensure every piece works together seamlessly.

Growing up in an environment where the future seemed bleak, I often felt trapped. Many young people in Nigeria thought crime was the only way to escape poverty and gain financial freedom. The streets taught us that life was a battle and only the strongest would survive. Today, I stand on a new path. It leads to real opportunities, creativity, and a future I can be proud of. That path is Coding.

A Rough Beginning: No Father, No Education, No Hope

My story is not unique in Nigeria. Like many others, I was born into hardship. My father passed away, and my mother struggled to make ends meet. She could no longer afford my education, so I had to drop out of school. For years, I looked for ways to survive. I tried Amazon FBA, dropshipping, and affiliate marketing. I was desperate to escape a life where the future looked bleak and success seemed impossible.

Despite these struggles, I never stopped researching. I always thought there had to be a better way. I wanted something more than quick-money schemes and temporary fixes. I wanted something genuine. I sought financial freedom and the chance to work with brilliant minds. I also wanted to solve real problems and contribute to something meaningful.

The Harsh Reality: Nigeria’s Struggle with Cybercrime

In Nigeria, many young people get involved in cybercrime. They don’t choose this path; they feel they have no other choice. Even graduates find it hard to get good jobs. Meanwhile, those without education have no clear way ahead. The pressure to make money often leads many down the wrong road. But what if I told you there was a better way? A path that offers financial stability, global opportunities, and essential skills?

Finding My Escape Route: Coding

I wish I had discovered coding when I was 16. But now, at 25, I am finally on the right path. Learning to code is the greatest decision I have ever made. Coding provides something valuable—freedom. Committing crimes often leads to fear, instability, and downfall.

Working from home for global firms is a great experience. Building solutions and making products adds to the excitement. I am not yet an expert, but I have learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python. I now understand how things work, and I get better every day. The most exciting part? I see my future. I’ll live in paradise, work with amazing teams, and build a meaningful career.

Why Coding is the Real Answer

  • Real Financial Freedom: No shortcuts or risks—valuable skills that companies need.

  • A Nigerian coder can work from home for companies in the US, Canada, or Europe.

  • Building Solutions: You can make products that fix real issues so you do not have to turn to crime.

  • Travel and a Better Lifestyle: Skilled developers are in demand. They can live and work from anywhere.

The Future I Am Working Towards

This blog post is not for others—it’s also a reminder to myself of the journey I have started. I have a clear goal: I want to be a successful software engineer. I aim to work with a great team of developers outside Nigeria. I want to be part of a global community, build solutions, and inspire others to choose the right path.

I’m excited about the future and the amazing chances coding will bring to my life. At the end of the day, I’m a boy who grew up in southern Nigeria, now dreaming of a beautiful future. If you’re reading this and you feel lost, know that it’s never too late to start.

Coding can change your life, as it is changing mine.

Cheers to the journey ahead! 🚀
